The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has confirmed new dates for five outstanding fixtures involving Rivers United, offering clarity to supporters as the season enters a decisive stretch.
Rivers United, widely known as the Pride of Rivers, saw the matches postponed earlier in the campaign due to their participation in the CAF Champions League. With continental commitments now out of the way, the league body has slotted the rearranged games into the calendar.
The Port Harcourt club will first travel to Ilorin for their Matchday 22 encounter against Kwara United on Wednesday, 18 February. That will be followed by a home tie against Barau FC on Wednesday, 25 February in Port Harcourt.
Their Matchday 23 clash with El-Kanemi Warriors, originally scheduled for January 28, has been moved to Wednesday, March 4, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt. Rivers United will then face Shooting Stars on Thursday, 12 March in Abeokuta, after that fixture was shifted from its earlier February date.
The final outstanding fixture will see Finidi George’s side travel to Minna to take on Niger Tornadoes on Thursday, 19 March at the Lafia City Stadium.
With five matches to catch up on, Rivers United have a valuable opportunity to gather momentum in the title race. Finidi George’s men are chasing a second NPFL crown and will be hoping the run of rescheduled games strengthens their push at the top end of the table.
Meanwhile, attention also turns to Matchday 26 fixtures across the league this weekend.
