Liverpool welcome Leeds United to Anfield in the Premier League on Thursday.
The defending top flight champions endured a blistering start to the campaign but a dismal run of form during October and November saw their chances of defending their title disintegrate.
Arne Slot’s side now sit fourth in the table after something of a recent revival, and victory against the Whites on New Year’s Day could move them a step close to Champions League qualification.
In the meantime, with the January transfer window starting on Thursday, it has emerged that Liverpool are working on a deal to sign one of Serie A’s biggest stars.
According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, via GiveMeSport, the Merseyside outfit have made calls in an effort to sign Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz.
The report claims that the reigning Premier League champions have made initial contact about a possible move for the Turkey international, who has taken the Italian top flight by storm this term.

Yildiz, 20, joined the Old Lady from German side Bayern Munich back in 2020 and has since made more than 100 appearances for the club across all competitions.
He has been particularly impressive this term, scoring six goals and providing the same number of assists in 22 games across all competitions.
Although the Turkish attacker’s current contract is set to expire in 2029, Juventus have been keen to agree a long-term extension in an effort to fend off interest from elsewhere.
Talks have so far failed to progress, though, with the player’s salary demands thought to be one particular obstacle.
With that in mind, the likes of Liverpool and fellow Premier League side Arsenal have been keeping tabs on the winger, and it is claimed that the Reds’ recent actions have prompted Juventus to focus fully on agreeing a new deal with the player.
