NewsTVStrictly Come DancingIt comes as his Strictly co-stars have been speaking out in supportStrictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans(Image: CLICK NEWS AND MEDIA)Wynne Evans has been spotted out and about for the first time since an ‘inappropriate remark’ scandal saw him stepping back from his work commitments, including touring the country with his Strictly Come Dancing co-stars.
The opera singer and BBC radio star was among the celebrities from the 2024 series who signed up to the Strictly Come Dancing Live 2025 tour, which kicked off last month before ending after 35 shows across the country last Sunday (February 9).
He was able to take part in the live tour after competing in the BBC One dance contest last year, during which he was paired with professional dancer Katya Jones and the pair made it through to the show’s annual Blackpool special, which once again fell just weeks before the grand final.
But, after issuing an apology for a ‘inappropriate’ remark during the tour’s launch, Wynne was forced to cut his time on the road short and told how he would ‘take some time out’ following the new controversy.
He said in a statement, which was posted to his Instagram Story at the time: “I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.”

Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”
Wynne has now been spotted for the first time since reportedly vowing to fight for his job at the BBC. The 52-year-old looked relaxed while grabbing a coffee in Cardiff and chatting with locals.
His appearance comes after JB Gill, who made it to the final of Strictly 2024 before joining the recent tour, has now been asked about Wynne’s exit for the first time. Speaking to The Sun at the TV Choice Awards 2025 earlier this week, the JLS star said: “When you’re part of a cast like that, it’s always difficult when you see someone go and obviously the circumstances kind of speak for themselves and I can’t comment on that. But it is sad when you’re part of a big group.”

Obviously I’m wishing him well and hoping he’ll be able to come back.”
Wynne’s exit from the tour came after it was reported that Wynne, known for the Go.Compare insurance advertisements, was heard making the remark to a woman in a video filmed during the event.
Wynne said at the time in response: “My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise.” A spokesman for the Strictly live tour and BBC Studios said: “We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints. We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour.”
