Bone chilling five word warning from Air Traffic Control revealed before Philadelphia plane crashThe chilling last moments of the doomed flight in a Philadelphia suburb were captured in audio as Air Traffic Control desperately attempted to reach the Learjet 55 before it crashed on Friday evening.
Ahead of the accident, an ATC controller had tried in vain to get in contact with the aircraft but was only met with silence. In a moment of harrowing realisation, they then broadcasted: “We have a lost aircraft,” and declared that all other flights would be halted until the whereabouts of the jet was determined.
Six passengers were on board the flight destined for Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri, which included a young girl from Mexico who had received life saving medical treatment in the United States and was on her way home.
But shortly after take off, the plane vanished from radar after climbing to around 1600ft, just moments before plummeting back to earth in a residential area of NorthEastern Philly.
The FAA and NTSB are among authorities currently probing the accident as rescue teams work tirelessly at the scene to assist bystanders who were also injured in the crash, which saw the plane tear into three apartments near Roosevelt Mall in Philadelphia at around 6 p.m local time.
The accident resulted in a horrific explosion and multiple fires in the residential area of Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard. Philadelphia’s emergency management office said that roads are closed in the area.
