Sawatari originally began penning the romantic comedy series on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website under the title Shiotaiou no Satou-san, Kono Mae Nanpa kara Tasukete kara nanka Ore ni dake Mechakucha Amakunai? in June 2019. Shogakukan began publishing a revised version of the novel under its Gagaga Bunko imprint with illustrations by Atiki in December 2019. The 11th volume went on sale in December 2025, with the 12th volume set for a March 18 release.
Kaya Tetsuyama began drawing a manga adaptation on the MangaONE platform in May 2020. Shogakukan published the ninth volume in November 2024, with the tenth volume going on sale on March 18. Shiotaiou no Satou-san ga Ore ni dake Amai has a cumulative 1.5 million copies of its volumes in circulation.
Synopsis
Koharu Satou is known to her classmates as the “unattainable flower” a cold and distant girl whose refusal to smile keeps everyone at arm’s length.
However, Souta Oshio accidentally stumbles upon Satou’s secret at her family’s cafe. It turns out the “icy Satou-san” is actually an incredibly shy and clumsy girl who struggles even with something as simple as taking photos of sweets for the cafe’s social media.
Bonding over their shared love for cameras and desserts, the distance between the two gradually shrinks. This charming romantic comedy follows two socially awkward people as they navigate their feelings in a story that is as sweet as it is endearing.
