UFC Fight Night 239 took place Saturday at the UFC Apex, and it was a submission-heavy event in Las Vegas.
The last of six submission stoppages on the card came in the main event, in which Marcin Tybura (25-8 MMA, 12-7 UFC) survived an early storm to choke Tai Tuivasa (15-7 MMA, 8-7 UFC) unconscious in the opening round of the heavyweight bout.

The UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance payout for the event totaled $189,500.
Debuting fighters went 1-2 at the event
Tybura, Macy Chiasson, Jafel Filho and Jaqueline Amorim earned $50,000 UFC Fight Night 239 fight-night bonuses.
The UFC sold VIP tickets to fans for UFC Fight Night 239, but the promotion did not make public the total number of tickets sold or the gate.
Betting favorites went 6-6 on the card. One fight ended in a no contest.
Betting favorites improved to 5-4 in UFC headliners this year.
Total fight time for the 13-bout card was 2:01:28.
Marcin Tybura def. Tai Tuivasa

Tybura has earned 16 of his 25 career victories by stoppage.
Tybura earned his first submission victory since Nov. 25, 2014 – a span of 3,399 days and 21 fights.
Tuivasa’s four-fight losing skid is the longest of his career. He hasn’t earned a victory since February 2022.
Tuivasa fell to 5-7 in his past 12 fights after starting his career 10-0.
Tuivasa has suffered six of his seven career losses by stoppage.

Meerschaert’s 11 stoppage victories in UFC middleweight competition are tied with Anderson Silva for most in divisional history.

Meerschaert’s 10 submission victories in UFC competition are tied with Royce Gracie and Nate Diaz for the fourth-most in company history behind Charles Oliveira (16), Jim Miller (12), Demian Maia (11), Nate Diaz (10) and Royce Gracie (10).
Bryan Barberena’s (18-12 MMA, 9-10 UFC) four-fight losing skid is the longest of his career. He hasn’t earned a victory since July 2022.
Barberena fell to 0-2 since he moved up to the middleweight division in July 2023.

Cory McKenna (8-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) suffered the first stoppage loss of her career with a submission defeat.
